Supreme Court Review of PPACA Petitions to Begin in November

On November 10, the U.S. Supreme Court will review five of six petitions that challenge the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act (PPACA).  The suit filed by Virginia’s Attorney General was dismissed by a lower court.

The Court will announce possibly by the middle of November which briefs it will take up.  The suit most likely to be considered is one filed by 26 states and the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and pushed by the Obama administration to determine the constitutionality of an individual mandate to purchase health insurance.  A ruling is expected before the 2012 presidential election.
