1,000+ NAIFA Members Take Grassroots Message to Washington

More than one thousand members of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors will travel to Washington, D.C., and meet with members of Congress and staff members on September 14, to discuss the potential impact of healthcare, financial services legislation and tax reform on their careers, their business and their clients.

The leadership of the House and Senate tax-writing, financial services and banking committees are among the officials scheduled to meet with NAIFA members.

"Insurance and financial advisors help 75 million American families protect themselves against the risks of illness, disability and premature death," said NAIFA President Terry K. Headley. "NAIFA members I've spoken with are excited over the prospects of educating their elected officials about the important contributions our industry makes to our nation's economy and financial security."

"From Dodd-Frank to the Affordable Care Act, federal legislation is creating a slew of new regulations that threaten to make it more difficult for NAIFA members to serve their largely middle-market and small business clients," said NAIFA President-Elect Robert A. Miller. "In many cases, these regulations seem to go well beyond the intent of Congress. Our goal during NAIFA's Day on the Hill is to educate and inform our Senators and Representatives and make sure they are aware of how the issues important to NAIFA affect their constituents."

More than 40 members will be attending from Texas including NAIFA-Texas President Stephen Ehlers.
